Joy Warmington is CEO of brap.

As Chief Executive of brap, Joy has piloted the organisation to its ‘cutting edge’ position, where it is now well regarded for its expertise in developing and piloting innovative equalities strategies. Under her leadership, the organisation operates at some of the most senior levels of the City of Birmingham, in addition to providing expertise, challenge and advice on a range of national interventions. 

Joy currently sits on the board of The Drum and SAMPAD and is a member of the NHS’s Leadership and Race Equality Panel. She graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a degree in Sociology and Management Development and has recently been awarded her MSc by UCE. She has written and co-authored a range of academic and organisational briefing papers. Her previous work history includes periods as Deputy Director of a voluntary sector training project in Birmingham, working to support socially excluded groups, followed by a senior management position with a large further education college, with responsibility for community education and widening participation, staff training and development, managing regeneration programmes and international work.

Joy's professional remit has also involved researching, developing and accrediting curricula.  Prior to taking up her current post, Joy worked as a freelance consultant in the area of equality and organisational development and as an Equalities Manager for local government, with responsibility for the black and minority ethnic voluntary sector.
