Introducing the R20 Programme
R2O stands for Routes to Opportunity. This programme has one primary objective, to enable the BME Third Sector Organisations in the West Midlands region to be better positioned to successfully access public sector procurement opportunities.
Over the last seven years the West Midlands BME (Black and minority ethnic) Third Sector has been the focus of a number of targeted regeneration programmes that have arguably had limited impact on improving the position, growth and performance of the BME sector. The R2O programme will use and build on the learning from these previous initiatives, to develop the capacity of the BME Third Sector.
The programme aims to enable BME Third Sector organisations to:
> Take advantage of current and emerging opportunities in public procurement
> Increase performance and ability to achieve contract ready standards
> Successfully secure and deliver public sector contracts
The programme will achieve these objectives by delivering a tailored programme of business support, financial support, procurement support, on the job training, coaching and mentoring.
Through delivering these activities we aim to test more progressive models of capacity building for the BME Third Sector and utilise this learning of the programme to inform future investment strategies designed to support the growth and sustainability of BME Third Sector organisations.
