Suzi has a PhD in law from the University of Kent, her PhD thesis examining how different jurisdictions such as the UK, Sweden, New Zealand and Malaysia respond to domestic violence against women and how effective the social-legal responses in these countries are.

She was AHRC Visiting Fellow at the Gender, Sexuality and Law Centre, University of Keele in 2005, and undertook research on Muslim women empowerment in Indonesia.

Before joining brap, Suzi worked as a law lecturer in Malaysia for nine years.
