The West Midlands Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards Print E-mail

The West Midlands Minority Ethnic Achievement awards champion minority ethnic talent from across Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton, and more.

When was the awards ceremony?
The ceremony was held on Friday 13 November at the Clarendon Suites, Birmingham.

What makes these awards different?
While other award ceremonies highlight the achievements of individual minority ethnic communities, there isn’t a single event that brings together all of the region’s minority ethnic communities to celebrate its collective achievements in all facets of society. With categories ranging from business successes to community triumphs, these awards are designed to showcase the contribution minority ethnic people make to the whole of society.

Outside of London, the West Midlands is one of the most diverse areas in the country. While it’s important the differences arising from diversity are celebrated, it’s equally important that communities have an opportunity to share in common triumphs, recognise shared goals, and celebrate collective values

Who organises the awards?
The event is organised by brap and Team 11, the organisation behind the hugely successful Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards in Scotland and the North East. Running for the last four years, the Scottish Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards are a fixture on the Scottish minority ethnic community’s calendar, attracting national and international media coverage. The event in Birmingham promises similar – if not greater – coverage, including being televised by Sony Entertainment Television Asia
.
