Take part in a new programme designed to build confidence and competence in having constructive conversations about race inequality across Birmingham’s school community.

The ConnectED programme focuses on how schools can create a positive impact through the way behaviour is understood and managed, particularly in relation to Black children and school exclusion.

Through practical tools, reflective discussion and a confidential learning space, participants will have the opportunity to explore these issues alongside colleagues from schools across Birmingham. You will have the opportunity to:

  • explore what racism is

  • understand how racialised thinking and practice shows up in the education system

  • practice having difficult conversations about racism

  • develop the skills to better talk to children about racism

This 2026 programme is for senior school leaders, teachers, pastoral staff, support staff, DSLs, SENDCOs and governors.

Session dates:

  • 22 June - 09.30-16.00

  • 26 June - 09.30-16.00
